How One Small Company Is Planning to Rewrite the Athletic Shoe Industry Blue-Print
by Pharaoh Athletics LLC. on November 08, 2021
Brief History of Founder
My name is Mosi “Mosimo” Jones and I am the Inventor and founder of Pharaoh Athletics. I'm from a small town south of Tampa, Florida known for breeding future NFL players. I spent 19 years in the retail market working with popular retail stores and shoe brands over my professional career. In 2013, I decided to create a company that was like no other merging fashion and technology together. I set out to create what Steve Jobs did for computers with design and innovation. At that time I felt that the shoe industry was changing due to technology advances that allowed for new innovation for manufacturing.
Inspiration
I was inspired by Elon Musk who was radical in his thinking for not being afraid to pick up the baton and take the car industry in another path. Last, I have to give credit to Phil Knight, and Nike because what they did for the shoe industry is unprecedented. These icons of there industry inspired me to want to take on the world and give back in some way even if I didn’t know it at the time. I was a typical guy playing sports, and working out as a hobby but I never imagined that I would want to create a shoe company.
Change of Plans
My goals shifted coming out of high-school, and I was torn between wanting to become a rapper, and writing scripts for films. Eventually, I fell out of love for becoming a rapper and focused on writing scripts. In 2011, everything changed, and I wish I had a great story to tell for why I shifted all the work I put into over the years to focus on one idea I cannot explain. However, what I can say is I was at a crossroad in my life where I wanted to dedicate my life to one idea and see what could happen.
My Eureka Moment!
Although, I loved my job in sales I wasn’t making enough money to have a career. Everyday, I had to walk over a mile to and from work so I was in good shape. One particular day, I began to think about a shoe that could make me walk faster with no effort. Hundreds of questions ran through my mind of what a shoe would look like and if I could actually create something to make a person walk faster. After months of research and countless sketches of the ideal shoe, I had an epiphany moment that this one design was different than anything I ever seen in my life, and functional. That moment, I realized that there was a window of opportunity for me to create something so different that it could possibly revolutionize the shoe industry. This shoe idea became an obsession. I had to face the music and say lets see where this ride takes me even if I fail. There was no turning back.
Overcoming Obstacles
However, Reality set in that the athletic shoe industry was no easy task to break into. And after nine long years with videos, social media post, press releases, and reaching out to investors I received silence. I began to doubt myself, and my invention. I even started to think that there was some type of conspiracy against me to fail. I could not understand why anyone for that matter would not want to invest in something that would help them perform better in games, for me it was a no brainer. But yet again, I realized that the athletic shoe industry is small compared to other industries and its kind of a monopoly over it's market.
Changing Public Opinion
When people talk about apparel brands there are hundreds of thousands of brands old and new. But you can count on both hands how many athletic shoe brands people actually know and wear. Who am I to come play in there swimming pool with no invitation? Most people would have given up at this time but I still feel that Pharaoh Athletics can make a difference in the industry. Even if Pharaoh Athletics doesn’t get the global recognition I believe we can change opinions on shoe technology and development. I believe education will eventually help consumers make better decisions for athletic shoes. The current state of the industry is on life support driven by athlete endorsements and overpriced shoes with no functionality for athletes in their sport industry.
